Self Catering Cottages

Westhall Cottage self catering

Westhall cottage, Lower Sound, Lerwick, Shetland ZE1 0RN, UK – 07708 443777

The best place to stay in Shetland! Fantastic rooms and hospitality. Food is very good too. A real home from home!

Without question this THE best guest house I've ever stayed at. Rooms are clean and luxurious. Food is as good as any restaurant. Julie, the owner, is just so helpful. And the views are outstanding. Try here first!

Montfield Cottage Self Catering

c/o Montfield House, Montfield, Lerwick ZE1 0QA, UK – 01595 692382

Lovely little house in walking distance to Lerwick harbour. Very convenient for travelling around. Loved the sun room with a bit of a sea side view. I would have given 5 stars if the mattresses on the beds had been more comfortable

Hansel Cottage

15 Clairmont Pl, Lerwick, Shetland ZE1 0BR, UK – 07785 358620

Just returned from an amazing week visiting the Shetlands. We stayed at Hansel cottage in Lerwick and the accommodation didn't disappoint. Everything we would have expected for holiday rental was there. Clean, well furnished to a high standard, even down to a welcome basket of local bread, eggs, butter and milk. The cottage is well located for the short walk into the center of Lerwick and well positioned for trips to the rest of the Island. Just added in making a great holiday.

"Everything was just perfect. The cottage is spacious, comfortable - especially the chair by the stove in the kitchen - and most conveniently and thoughtfully organised, with great attention to detail. There was nothing showy but everything was exactly what we needed and within easy reach. Good quality equipment and furnishing. We are thankful for the blinds that shut out the light at night. Faultlessly equipped and immaculately clean. A gem of a cottage and a particularly warm welcome." Tips: A trip to Noss with Shetland Seabirds Tours in July is a rare opportunity to see spectacular cliffs and bird cities. Another trip to Mousa from Sandwayre Pier where the seals were basking in the sun, to see more seals, more birds and the extraordinary broch. Hermaness Reserve was well worth a visit, it's an easy walk to the cliffs, the views are breathtaking and the smell and cries of the birds make it a memorable walk. Plenty to see in Unst if you're interested in the Viking heritage. The list could be neverending, but one last tip is a meal at the bar of the Scalloway Hotel, never had crab claws like those before, and the desserts are out of this world. 7th September 2017, guest from Montlucon: "Everything was just perfect. Cottages.com used to be called Cottages4You. It was one the first and one of the biggest of the Holiday Cottage Rental websites. They have over 14,000 properties - and so should have one near where you where you would like to go - not only anywhere in the UK but they have lots of overseas properties as well.

The website is really fast and simple to use. I fact it is close to a no-nonsense approach! It does what it says on the tin.  Good hunting.

Well worth a look. The properties are well presented - each with a property manager. I did see that they don't have their telephone number under their photo!

Definately a slick and believable website. Enjoy!

ToadHall.jpg
Toad Hall Cottages are also very well established and specialise in the South West. They do Pet Friendly Cottages which can be a bonus for lots of families. They also to 'big' and 'luxury' if that is your bag. Go with a crowd - some of the best holidays are with friends!

Stunning Ancient Devon Longhouse with B & B

Milton Abbot A wonderful 17th Century farmhouse set in the heart of the Devon countryside near the historic and beautiful town of Tavistock on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park. Great walks in private wood...
If you have to have sun - or atleast more sun - you might like to have a look at the villas below. Some will be lovely in the spring in autumn when we are rather winding down in the UK - to say the least!
JamesVillasLogo.jpg
James Villas as the name suggested just do 'Abroad'. They were one of the first big ones. If you are interested in Europe, North Africa or Florida give them a click. Huge choice and flashy site. Enjoy!
